Portfolios must reach us until the 15th of may, too. Audition dates will be announced shortly.

We are looking for: Students with a strong interest in both artistic and scholarly work. Aim of the MA course is to further the development of artistic personalities who are ready to meet the complexities of the contemporay performing arts world with their theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of dance and performance.

Concept: The MA course “Choreography and Performance“ (CuP) consists in equal parts of university seminars dealing with theoretical and historical problems of the field and of the students’ own practical work in the studio. The course is guided by the insight that professional requirements for choreographers today have changed radically. Just as it is no longer enough for dancers to be virtuosos in their field, the art of choreography no longer consists of finding and combining steps to music. Both dancers and choreographers today have to be thinking performers able to reflect on their own practice.

Provider: The new MA course “Choreography and Performance“ is an integral part of Tanzlabor_21 / A Tanzplan Deutschland Project, an initiative of the Kulturstiftung des Bundes, in cooperation with Mousonturm, Frankfurt. The course was designed by Prof. Heiner Goebbels and Prof. Dieter Heitkamp. As of wintersemester 2008/09 Prof. Dr. Gerald Siegmund is responsible for the curriculum.
